Do you Scan photos or do you do photo restoration?

We do both! We encourage our clients to scan as many of their old photos as they want. Hundreds of photos, slides, and negatives can be digitized in high-resolution with relative ease. We recommend then selecting a handful of photos for specific restoration processes. Some of this work is automated and some of it must be performed by hand.

Why should I scan my photos?

Physical copies of your photos are important to keep and we would never suggest that a digital copy replace a physical one. The problem with physical photos is that they are vulnerable to the elements - fading from the sun, destruction in a fire, degradation from water or mildew, or simply misplaced. A digital copy, if properly stored online (outside of your home computer or device) could in theory last forever. The other major benefit to scanning your photos is the ability to then share them with friends and family far away.

Why should I restore my photos?

There has never been a better time to restore old photos. Early techniques of photo restoration involved physically painting over them. Often results did not appear photo realistic and artists were limited in what was possible. In the computer age and now in the age of complex AI models, what would have been considered impossible just a few years ago is commonplace. Recovering lost details, restoring focus and repairing extensive damage are now well within our grasp.

Do you store or host digital galleries of my photos?

We are happy to show our clients how to upload their photos or advise them on the best ways to store them digitally, but we do not retain digital files on their behalf. With the clients permission we may ask to use their photos on our website or social media to share their story or to promote our work.
