My son is two months old today. I have 346 photos of him. In contrast to that, I have exactly one baby photo of my grandfather. In my view there is no way to overstate the value of that one photo. Not only does it hold value for me, but also I feel a personal responsibility to preserve that photo for my son and for his future children. We live in a world where taking a photo is so incredibly convenient that it is easy to forget that some are irreplaceable.
